Scholarships Offers - Master's and Doctorate
The Chair is looking for motivated students with an interest in pursuing graduate studies in health anthropology on issues related to public health challenges, programs, and interventions, particularly in the field of infectious disease prevention. The grant recipients will join the Chair's team and work under the supervision of Dr. Ève Dubé.
Proposals for master's or doctoral projects on the following themes are invited:
- Health misinformation, trust in expert discourse, role of social media;
- Individual, social, and cultural factors influencing infectious disease prevention behaviors, social determinants of health, systemic barriers to healthcare access;
- Ethical issues of public health interventions, policies, and programs;
- Vaccine hesitancy among healthcare professionals;
- Consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in different communities and contexts.
Other themes in the field of health anthropology may also be proposed.
Eligibility Criteria
Master's Scholarship
The candidate holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology or a bachelor's degree with 60 credits in anthropology, or an equivalent diploma, with an average GPA in the program or upon graduation equal to or greater than 3.2 out of 4.33, or the equivalent. The successful candidate must have excellent proficiency in spoken and written French.
Doctoral Scholarship
The candidate holds a master's degree in anthropology or an equivalent diploma. A master's degree in another discipline may be eligible. The successful candidate must have excellent proficiency in spoken and written French.

Documents Required for Submission
Any application must be accompanied by the following documents:
- A letter of motivation outlining the themes in which the student wishes to specialize;
- A curriculum vitae;
- The final transcript of the previous level of education (1st, 2nd, or 3rd cycle);
- Names and contact information of two individuals who can provide references;
- The date on which the candidate is available to begin graduate studies.

The research grant is fully funded by a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The scholarship is worth $17,500 (master's) or $25,000 (doctorate) and lasts for one year, with the possibility of extension. Successful candidates will be invited to (or supported in) applying for grants from funding agencies.

Paid Internships
The Chair is looking for motivated students who would like to participate in an internship within the team.
Internship Objectives
The project and internship objectives will be agreed upon with the interns, based on their interests and ongoing projects at the Chair. Generally, tasks may include:
- Conducting research in documentary databases;
- Producing reading sheets;
- Collaborating in the preparation of applications for the ethics committee;
- Contributing to data collection activities, for example, through interviews or focus groups;
- Participating in the analysis of qualitative data using N'Vivo software;
- Collaborating in the interpretation of research project results;
- Contributing to the valorization of results (writing scientific publications, oral or poster presentations, research reports).
Requirements
- Be enrolled full-time in a bachelor's program in social sciences at Université Laval at the time of the internship1;
- Demonstrate excellent proficiency in French;
- Possess reading and comprehension skills in English;
- Provide a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae, and an academic transcript.
Internship Scholarship and Duration
- Two-month full-time internship (8 weeks). Depending on the candidates' availability, the internship can be part-time, over four months (16 weeks).
- 16-week internship during the fall and winter sessions.
- Start date: To be agreed upon with the candidates
- Internship Location: Université Laval2
- Scholarship: $5,000 (in two installments for full-time internships or in four installments for part-time internships)
